
It's only fully on once it's finished pretending to run a virus scan (that's how it installs itself). I also 'caught' it at home, but managed to stop it in its tracks by pulling the internet jack out. A couple of colleagues were not so lucky. I'm not saying that will definitely solve the problem, but I accidentally downloaded one of those viruses onto my work PC under cover of something pretending to be a Windows virus checker program! I screwed my office PC, but luckily he was able to remove it the following day. The best way to install it is to copy the link below, open your browser, copy it into the top line and then hit ‘go’. We were given a brilliant free one from work which really does the trick. Secondly, run a malware program immediately after which should search and destroy anything that's left. The first line of defence is to attempt a system restore to a period before this happened, as that should take off the bits of stuff that did manage to download. As long as she pulled the plug before it fully downloaded itself, she should be okay.
